Bringing comfort to children affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton
Alan Perler and his wife joined a local initiative, Comfort Buckets for Kids, to support children impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton in Sarasota and Manatee County. Together with local businesses, they helped create and distribute buckets filled with essentials and small comforts, offering relief and hope to families facing the aftermath of devastating storms.
"Seeing the community rally around this cause was truly inspiring. It was a reminder of how much good we can do when we come together to support those in need. I’m grateful to have played even a small part in this effort."

Alan's rationale
In the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, our community in Sarasota, Florida and neighbouring Manatee County faced devastating loss. Homes were destroyed, belongings swept away, and lives were turned upside down in a matter of weeks. As a resident of Sarasota, I count myself very fortunate to have been spared the worst of these storms, but my heart went out to the families and children who were not as lucky.
That’s why my wife and I felt driven to support a local effort: Comfort Buckets for Kids. This initiative was organised by a number of small local businesses, many of which were also impacted by the storms themselves. Despite their own challenges, these businesses came together to create and distribute buckets filled with essentials and small comforts—hygiene items, snacks, toys, and colouring books—designed to bring relief and hope to children facing unimaginable hardships.
Through the hard work of local organisations, these buckets were delivered directly to families in need. I was proud to contribute to this initiative, knowing it would help brighten a child’s day or offer a family a small reminder that they were not alone.
